The British High Commissioner, Christian Turner stated that England will visit Pakistan next year to bring cricket back to the country.

Following the withdrawal of New Zealand just before the commencement of the series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also announced that both men's and women's tours of Pakistan will be cancelled.

Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was not amused by the decision of withdrawal by the New Zealand and England boards. Wasim Akram had also urged supporters to come out and support their country's cricket. In addition, numerous former Pakistani cricketers had criticised the ECB and expressed their dissatisfaction over the decision.

The British commissioner has now offered them a ray of hope by announcing that the England cricket team will visit Pakistan next year. Furthermore, they want to bring cricket back to Pakistan, which is one of the main reasons their squad will visit Karachi (Pakistan) next year if the schedule permits.

“We are looking forward to seeing the development of Karachi in near future. We want to bring back cricket to Pakistan. England cricket team will be in Karachi next year on an available window,” Turner said while addressing the World Maritime Day Seminar on Thursday.

That was an independent decision

The British High Commissioner also said that the decision was entirely taken by ECB and their government doesn’t have any involvement or role in this matter.

Turner, in a video posted to his Twitter account, said,

“This was a decision made by the ECB, which is independent of the British government, based on concerns for player welfare. The British High Commission supported the tour, did not advise against it on security grounds, and our travel advice for Pakistan has not changed. I have been a champion of international cricket’s return to Pakistan and will redouble my efforts in advance of England’s Autumn 2022 tour.”

In addition, he left a message at the end of the video that Pakistan's stadium will once again be filled with roaring fans and "akkhir me jeet cricket ki hogi" (Cricket will be victorious in the end).
