Former Australia Test skipper Tim Paine who stepped down from the leadership role, is expected to give evidence over texts he allegedly sent to a woman. Paine is expected to provide his evidence on the matter in the Federal Court.
Renee Ferguson, a former Cricket Tasmania Staffer had alleged that back in 2017, Paine had sent her sexually explicit messages.
The allegations
“Four individuals from the organization who allegedly sexually harassed Ms. Ferguson between 2015 and 2017 – including Tubb and Paine – could be called as witnesses if the matter went to trial,” Bruce McTaggart SC, representing Cricket Tasmania said as quoted by Daily Mail.
“Possible witness list could also include four other Cricket Tasmania staff members Ms. Ferguson claims to have reported the matter to and that a contested hearing could involve “complex medical questions,” Bruce McTaggart SC added.

The 37-year-old former Aussie skipper played 35 matches for his national team in the longest format of the game. In Test cricket he had scored 1534 runs at an average of 32.63 and with a strike rate of 45.72. Paine scored 9 half centuries in Test cricket. He made his debut in Test cricket back in 2010 against Pakistan. His highest Test score of 92 came against India, back in 2010, in Mohali. Paine scored 92 off 196 balls in the first innings of the Test match and his innings was comprised of 12 boundaries. He was eventually dismissed by former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan. Although, in the second innings he was dismissed, scoring just 9 runs off 12 balls.
In ODIs, he made his debut in 2009 against Scotland. In ODIs, he played 35 matches and scored 890 runs at an average of 27.81. In ODIs, Paine scored one century and five half centuries.
On the other hand, in the shortest format of the game, the Tasmania-born cricketer made his debut in 2009. In T20Is, he represented his national side in 12 matches. In the shortest format of the game, Paine scored 82 runs.
In March 2018, he became the 46th Australia Test skipper. He was appointed as the Test skipper following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
