Hardik Pandya has been named captain for the two-T20I series against Ireland later this month. Pandya has been named captain in the absence of all-format Rohit Sharma who has been rested for the series. Rishabh Pant, who is currently leading Indian T20I side against South Africa at home, is not a part of T20I series as he will be preparing for the rescheduled Test against England.

Injured KL Rahul has not been named in the T20I squad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named the vice-captain.

Sanju Samson has returned to the T20I squad whereas Rahul Tripathi has received maiden T20I call-up after consistent performances in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the top order.

Suryakumar Yadav, who got injured during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and was not considered for South Africa series, is making a comeback as well.

Shreyas Iyer is missing from the T20I squad as well as he is a part of the Test squad. Similarly, skipper Rohit, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and others are not a part of the T20I squad as they will be preparing for the Edgbaston Test.

India will play Ireland in two T20Is in Dublin on June 26 and June 28.

Hardik has been considered by many as a candidate for full-time T20I captaincy after Rohit. Especially after Gujarat Titans (GT) won the IPL 2022 in their debut season under Hardik's leadership.
