Harmanpreet Kaur rises in T20I rankings while Shafali Verma slips two places

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has gained five spots in ICC Women's T20I batters rankings with consistent performances in recently-concluded three-T20I series against Sri Lanka. Harmanrpeet is now ranked 18th on the list with scores of 22, 31* and 39* in the three-T20Is which also helped her surpass former Indian skipper Mithali Raj on the list of leading run-scorers in the format.


While Harmanpreet climbed up, opener Shafali Varma slipped two places to fifth after scoring just 53 runs in three appearances in Sri Lanka. Shafali's opening partner Smriti Mandhana gained one spot and is now placed fifth. Currently, Australia's Beth Mooney is leading the rankings with 724 rating points.


Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu gained one place and moved to seventh position with an record-breaking unbeaten 80 in the third T20I against India.


In the bowling department, left-arm spinner Radha Yadav moved to 13th position despite leaking 41 runs in the third T20I at Dambulla. In total, Radha took four wickets in the series where India won by 2-1.


The only Indian bowler in 10 of T20I rankings is right-arm off-spinner Deepti Sharma. The list is led by England spinner Sophie Ecclestone.


On the other hand, two other Indian bowlers have made massive jumps in the rankings. pacer Pooja Vastrakar has jumped 30 places to move to 32nd spot whereas Renuka Thakur jumped 83 spots to reach 97th place.


Vastrakar took two wickets in the series but bowled economical spells. Similarly, Renuka bagged a couple of wickets on Sri Lankan soil as well.


Athapaththu gained one spot in the all-rounders rankings as well moving to seventh position by surpassing Pakistan's Nida Dar. The top spot is occupied by New Zealand's Sophie Devine. The only Indian in top 10 is Deepti, who is in the third slot.
