Nitish Rana has got his chance in the Indian team, but that opportunity did not last for long. Since then, he has been struggling to get a knock on the door of the Indian dressing room. With the T20 World Cup a few months, and the Asia Cup a few days away, it is highly unlikely that Rana will get a chance in the team either as a standby or as an additional player.

But, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer still refuses to give up. Rana is optimistic that he will get a chance in Rohit Sharma's team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. In an exclusive interview with Sports Tak, Rana shared his dreams to play for India in T20 World Cup.

When asked about his optimism about the future, he said, "I am hopeful to get a chance in the Indian team. That's what cricket is for. Everyone is trying to get a chance in the Indian team. We have to move forward thinking that we will get a chance for T20 World Cup and Team India. But everything is not in my hands, I want to give my best, that's all. I will give my 100 percent wherever I play and will perform well."

Nitish has performed well in every season for KKR even though he could not excel in a way to force himself into the Indian team. "I don't want to blame anyone on this issue. I didn't go, I couldn't perform in the matches I already had got chances the Indian team. Couldn't do my best in the centre. If I am doing 400 Runs and I didn't get a chance I don't want to blame anyone. Because I want to increase that target. 600 runs have to be done in place of 400 runs. Only then will I proceed. That should be the goal of all cricketers," he said.

The KKR team have not had the same kind of success in the last two years. Sharing his thought on the same, he said, "first of all everyone should have to play well in domestic cricket and at the same time they should prepare well in the off-season. Not only that we have to pick up some good cricketers in the mini auction as well."

If everything goes well and Covid reduces, then IPL will return to the Eden Gardens. And KKR will be able to play most of the matches at home. Nitish thinks that it is much more advantageous, "playing at home is always an advantage. I want to lift the IPL cup at Eden Gardens. Want to be a champion at Eden Gardens. The characteristic of playing in the home field is that the little boy of the house will return home."

KKR mentors Abhishek Nayar and players Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh also held a workshop with Bengal Women and Junior cricketers on Thursday at Eden Gardens.
