Nepal skipper and ace spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has claimed his innocence and is prepared to fight the 'baseless' allegations against him as sexual assault charges were levied against him earlier this week. The former Delhi Daredevils player has been accused of rape by a 17-year-old girl in a hotel room and after she filed an FIR against Lamichhane, the 22-year-old has been suspended by his country's cricket board.

According to the case filed at the Police Circle Gaushala on Tuesday, Lamichhane allegedly took the girl to different places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur on August 21 and raped her in a hotel in Kathmandu on the same night. He has been suspended to help in conducting a smooth investigation.

Currently, in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs, Lamichhane said that he will leave the country in the next few days as he was ready to face the allegations, and also hopes that justice is served to the innocent and the right investigation is done.

"I am INNOCENT & keep complete belief in the respectable laws of Nepal. I have decided to take a leave from CPL and go back to my country within a few days. I am ready to face all these baseless allegations. May justice be served to the innocent & right investigation to be done towards everyone involved. Hope the law acts equal to everyone," said Lamichhane.
