'I’ve grown more in love with your country on every visit,' Kevin Pietersen thanks Prime Minster Modi for his greetings on Republic Day

Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his  “incredibly kind words” in a letter that was sent to Pietersen on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day.

 

Pieteresen posted a message on Twitter calling India as “a global powerhouse.”

“Dear, Mr @narendramodi, Thanks for the incredibly kind words in your letter to me. Ever since stepping foot in India in 2003, I’ve grown more in love with your country on every visit," Pietersen wrote on Twitter while he also sharing the letter that he received from the Indian Prime Minister, on January 28 (Friday).

 

While sharing his recent experience, the former England batsman, expressed his love for the Indian people as well.

 

“I was recently asked, ‘what do you most like about India’ & my answer was easy  - THE PEOPLE," he added.

 

Pietersen while posting on Twitter, expressed his desire to meet the India’s Prime Minister “in person” and he also thanked Prime Minister Modi “for how India is a global leader in protecting its wildlife.” 

 

“Happy Republic Day to all Indians for a couple days ago. A proud country & a powerhouse globally!  I look forward to meeting you in person soon, to thank you for how India is a global leader in protecting its wildlife! My best wishes!" the 41-year-old former cricketer wrote in a different tweet.

 

Rhodes and Gayle on Twitter

Previosly, West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle and former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes received letters from PM Modi as well.

 

“Thank you @narendramodi ji for the very kind words. I have indeed grown so much as an individual on every visit to India. My whole family celebrates #RepublicDay with all of India, honouring the importance of a #Constitution that protects the rights of the Indian people #JaiHind," Rhodes posted on Twitter.

 

Gayle on the other hand, wrote, “"I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love.”
