ICC charges eight under Emirates Cricket Board Anti-Corruption Code including Shadab, Rizwan and Nassir Hossain

Bangladesh's Nasir Hossain is the only international cricketer on the list.Eight players, officials and support staff have been asked to respond within 14 days.

On behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), the International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged eight players and officials for breaching ECB's Anti-Corruption Code during the T10 League on different counts.
 

These charges relate to the 2021 edition of Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League as players and officials made attempts to corrupt matches which were eventually disrupted. The ECB appointed the ICC as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) to act on their behalf.
 

The only international player on the list is Bangladesh's Nasir Hossain who failed to disclose to the DACO a receipt of a gift worth over 750 dollars among other charges. He was associated with the Pune Devils. The 31-year-old has represented Bangladesh in 19 Tests, 65 ODIs and 31 T20Is. His last appearance on the international stage was in 2018. 
 

The officials charged by DACO are Krishan Kumar Chaudhary and Parag Sanghvi who are co-owners of Pune Devils. Sanghvi is the only one among the eight who has been charged under Article 2.2.1 for "Placing bets on the results, progress, conduct or other aspect of International and Domestic Matches.”
 

Ashar Zaidi (batting coach), Sunny Dhillon (assistant coach), and Shadab Ahamed (team manager) are the support staff of the Devils franchise. They have been charged with “being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches." 
 

Rizwan Javed and Saliya Saman are domestic players. They face a separate charge for influencing others by “offering a reward in exchange for that player engaging in” to corrupt the game.”

 

Eight players, officials, and support staff have been asked to respond within 14 days by the ICC to respond within 14 days. In addition, Chaudhary, Sanghvi, Zaidi, Javed, Saman, and Dhillon have been provisionally suspended by the apex cricket board.
 

The 2021 edition was Pune Devils franchise’s last season. They finished at the bottom of the table with just one win from six matches in the Super League.
