Ireland will face off against India once again in 2023, their board confirmed on Friday, March 18, on their website. India toured the country in 2022 as well, playing an exciting two-match series in 2022, when India secured a clean sweep.
The board in a statement said that the return of India for a second consecutive year 'represents a vote of confidence in the talent and competitiveness of the current Irish side'.
"We can today confirm India visiting Ireland for a second consecutive year and confirm the World Cup Super League series against Bangladesh will proceed in early May. This is on top of the already announced Test match at Lord's in June and the three-match ODI series in September against England," said Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland.
"Given the rather different shape of this summer, fans are encouraged to buy their tickets early for home matches given the anticipated interest and demand it will generate. Even if the series against India is half as dramatic as last year's, it will be more than worth the price of admission," he added.
The T20I series is set to take place between August 18-23 in Malahide.
India's tour of Ireland will succeed the host nation's final bid to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. They will take on Bangladesh in a three-match World Cup Super League series, with all three matches set to be hosted in Chelmsford in May. While Bangladesh have already qualified for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Ireland will need to clean-sweep the series to secure their automatic qualification.
If Ireland fails to win 3-0 against Bangladesh, they will have to travel to Zimbabwe in June for the 50-over World Cup Qualifier.
Meanwhile, they kick off their away ODI series against Bangladesh on March 18. They take on the Bengal Tigers in three ODIs and T20Is respectively, as well as a one-off Test match which starts on April 4.
