This is the first time this ground will host a women's Test match.

The most iconic stadium in the world referred to as the Home of Cricket, Lord's Stadium is set to host its first-ever women's Test match in 2026. The England and Wales Cricket Board announced this news on Thursday, 22 August. India and England recently played each other in a one-off women's Test in December 2023 at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The match ended in a lopsided contest with nothing to offer for fans as a dominant India hammered England by a massive 347 runs. Talking about Lords the historic ground has witnessed women’s matches being held but for the first time, a Test will be played on this ground. The lords recently hosted both the finals of the Men’s and Women's editions of the Hundred 2024.

"It has also been confirmed that India Women will return in 2026 for a one-off Test match at Lord’s – the first-ever Women’s Test to be staged at the Home of Cricket. England Women have played white-ball matches at Lord’s for the past three years, with another scheduled next year, but it will be the first time the ground has hosted a Women’s Test match," ECB said in a statement.

India's women's team will tour the English conditions in 2025 to play a white-ball series. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will face England in 5 T20Is, starting 28 June in Nottingham. After the T20Is, the team will take on England for a 3-match ODI series, starting on 16 July. The one-day series will end on 22nd July.  Interestingly The women's white-ball series will run parallel to the men's red-ball series.

"I’m also delighted we can confirm that India Women will return in 2026 to take on England Women in the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s. It will be a truly special occasion, and one of real significance," said Richard Gould, ECB Chief Executive Officer.

"We are thrilled that Lord's will stage a women's Test match for the first time. Women's cricket is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and the Club is proud to support this growth," Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC, Guy Lavender said.
