It would have been nice to play another World Cup together with Yuvraj, Sehwag & Gambhir: Harbhajan

Former India spin wizard Harbhajan Singh, who recently called it a day to all forms of cricket, has again spoken his heart out. This time while recalling the glorious 2011 World Cup journey, he wished 'it would have been nice to play another World Cup' with Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir. He also shared his pathos of post World Cup snub after which his career never resurrected.

The veteran India player was integral part on both the historic moments of Indian cricketing history. First was the  inaugural edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2007 and the second one was the ODI World Cup 2011.

Harbhajan played an instrumental role in both the World Cup events but right after 2011 World Cup he could only see his career going in downward trajectory. Now, on and off, he keeps on raising the questions as to why he was sidelined and didn't get a chance to play another World Cup for India.

“It would have been nice to play another world cup together with all my colleagues like Yuvraj and Virender Sehwag. When I took 400 Test wickets, I was only 31 and in 2011 also, I was 31. At 31, I was doing really well and I was fitter than many who actually were playing the game," Harbhajan Singh told ANI

“After that, things did not go our way. I don’t know what happened and who was behind it but whatever happened it’s gone. There is no point talking about it. But yes would have been nice to play another world cup with Viru, Yuvi and maybe Gambhir as well,” he added.

The 41-year-old further added that along with him Yuvraj, Gambhir, and Sehwag were fit enough to be a part of the 2015 World Cup team however they were not included in the squad. He also said that he is still looking for an answer from the BCCI behind his and other World Cup-winning players exclusion from the next World Cup team.

“We guys were fit enough to be a part of the 2015 World Cup team which did not happen. That is something which was not in our hands and all I have to say is whatever opportunities we have got, whatever we have done for Indian cricket. I always want to be grateful for that and love all the opportunities we have got by the BCCI,” he said.

“I don’t know who can answer but you must ask the BCCI. At that time, the BCCI that why these guys did not play together after winning the 2011 World Cup. We were not in our late 30s, we were in our starting 30s. I was 31, Viru was like 31-32, Yuvi was 29-30 and we never got to play another world cup which is quite strange actually,” Harbhajan signed off in disappointment.
