Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah explained their decision not to hold day or night Tests. Notably, India last played a day-and-night Test against Sri Lanka at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in 2022. Ever since the BCCI has appeared to be unwilling to host pink ball matches. They have not held any during the two previous series against England and Australia. Jay Shah recently explained why they made the move because of the early results in these games.

"No, there are no provisions. Pink-ball Tests get over within two days in India. As a result, spectators lose money, broadcasters lose money. We need to look at sentiments also. As a fan, you go to a cricket match and buy a ticket for five days, but the game gets over within two-three days. There is no refund. So, I am slightly emotional in this case,” Jay Shah told the Times of India.

None of India's three-day-night Tests at home have lasted longer than three days, and one of them was in Ahmedabad which ended in just two days. India's only loss in the day/night game has come in Adelaide where they were bowled out for 36, the lowest team total in 87 years
Jay Shah on hosting Women's T20 World Cup 2024
Shah went on to say that they turned down the Bangladesh Cricket Board's request that India host the women's T20 World Cup in 2024 due to political unrest in Bangladesh.
“They had asked the BCCI if they can host the event, but I flatly refused. We would be still in the monsoon season and next year, we are going to host the ODI Women's World Cup. I do not want to give the impression that I want to host consecutive World Cups,” said Shah.
Due to the country's civil unrest, the possibility of Bangladesh hosting the women's Twenty20 World Cup in 2024 has raised numerous concerns. The tournament will begin on October 3 and will be held across two venues. The ICC is keeping a close eye on the country's situation ahead of the huge event and will make a decision soon. In the meantime, a two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan is scheduled to begin on August 21. They showed up in Pakistan four days ahead of time as they couldn't rehearse in that frame of mind due to the continuous circumstance.
