Kerala cricketer C Minnu Mani was appointed as the captain of India 'A' Women's team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the England counterparts on November 24. The series is set to commence in Mumbai on November 29.

 

The 24-year-old off-spinner is the first cricketer from Kerala to captain the India 'A' Women's side.

 

Minnu, a talented cricketer from Wayanad, Kerala, has represented India in four matches, claiming five wickets.

 

Making her debut for Kerala at the age of 16, Minnu played a crucial role in the Kerala U-23 women's team's victory in the national T20 championship in 2018, contributing 188 runs and claiming 11 wickets. She represented India Blue in the Under-23 One Day Challenger Trophy in 2019. She received her first call-up to the India A team for the tour of Bangladesh and was also selected for the ACC Emerging Women's Asia Cup in the same year.

In the WPL auction ahead of the inaugural season, Delhi Capitals acquired her services. 

 

Minnu was chosen to play for the Indian team touring Bangladesh, becoming the first female cricketer from Kerala to achieve this in July 2023.

 

She made her debut in women's T20I cricket for India against Bangladesh on July 9, 2023. Minnu emerged as India's top wicket-taker in the series, securing five wickets in three matches.

 

Minnu was part of the gold medal-winning women's team for India at the Hangzhou Asian Games earlier in 2023.

 

The India 'A' Women's team is scheduled to play three matches against England 'A' Women on November 29, December 1, and 3. All the matches will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
