The latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's rankings have been released and there is a slight drop for India's T20I vice-captain KL Rahul. In the latest rankings Rahul as dropped to sixth in the rankings. The Indian opener was in-form for the final three T20Is of India's Super 12 campaign, but failed to make a mark in big games against Pakistan and New Zealand. Rahul scored three consecutive half-centuries before India bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE.

The drop in position came as New Zealand batsman Devon Conway jumped from seventh position to fourth owing to his impactful knocks in the middle order. The New Zealand batter earned significant ranking points to move three places better. His 46-run knock against England in the semi-final saw him make huge favours to his ranking. There was an improvement in teammate Kane Williamson’s ranking too as he moved to the 32nd sport after a record-breaking 85-run knocking in the losing cause against Australia in the final.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has maintained his eight spot in the rankings as there was no significant movement below him. The former T20I skipper could however drop in the rankings in the coming days as he is rested for the three-T20I series against New Zealand whereas Rahul has a chance to move up the ladder.

The latest rankings sees Babar Azam retain his top spot with Dawid Malan in second. Conway’s move also means that Mohammad Rizwan drops by one spot to fifth. In the bowling department, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood have both moved up. Their impressive performances in the tournament were a big reason why Aaron Finch-led side clinched their maiden T20 World Cup title. With 13 wickets in the tournament Zampa moved to third place whereas teammate Hazlewood has jumped to sixth spot.
