Injured Indian batter KL Rahul, has been on the sidelines since the middle of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season after suffering a thigh injury while fielding for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which ruled him out of the IPL as well as the World Test Championship (WTC).
Rahul had a successful thigh surgery in May and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. He took to Instagram on Friday, June 16, to give his fans an update on his recovery with a few pictures. He captioned the post, "Slow progress is still progress."
KL Rahul scored 274 runs in nine games before he was ruled out of the IPL 2023 season. They were knocked out of the competition with an 81-run loss to the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator.
Rahul was missed in the WTC 2023 final between India and Australia, with the former losing at The Oval earlier in June. KL Rahul was originally in India's squad for the summit clash but was later ruled out due to a thigh injury and was replaced by Ishan Kishan.
Rohit Sharma and his team suffered a 209-run defeat as they failed to chase down Australia's 444-run target in the fourth innings.
The right-handed batter had a decent return in the WTC 2021-23 cycle, scoring 636 runs in 21 innings, including two centuries and as many fifties.
His impressive record in England would have helped his team massively. The 31-year-old has amassed 614 runs across 18 innings in England, with two tons and a solitary half-century in red-ball cricket. Rahul will aim to regain his full fitness soon as he gears up for his cricket return on the road to the ICC ODI World Cup. The marquee event is scheduled to be played in India in October and November this year.
