Legends Cricket Trophy: Stuart Binny's fantastic batting downs Nagpur Ninjas in exciting 1-run victory as Sehwag's team emerges victorious

After the Legends League Cricket (LLC) Masters culminated on Monday, many top former cricketers who have retired from international cricket are participating in the Legends Cricket Trophy (LCT), taking place at Ghaziabad. Leading the Vizag Titans is Virender Sehwag's side, while Harbhajan Singh is captaining the Nagpur Ninjas. The two sides played out an exciting match on Thursday, March 23, which saw Sehwag's team earn a hard-fought one-run win over the Titans.

The former Team India opener scored 189 runs, led by Stuart Binny's unbeaten innings of 49 runs, including five sixes to their name. The former all-rounder was also at his best with the ball, defending 10 runs in the last over to ensure his team won their first match of the tournament.

Six-hitting Stuart Binny 
It was the fourth of the Legends Cricket Trophy, in which skipper Sehwag won the toss and decided to bat first.

Nick Compton opened the batting with Sehwag, and the duo set up an opening partnership of 40 runs. Sehwag was dismissed by Dilhara Fernando for 27 runs off 18 balls with 6 fours while Compton went on to play a blistering innings of 58 runs in 45 balls with 7 fours and 1 six.

Former India player Stuart Binny, came to bat at number four, helping his team to a competitive total of 189 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Richard Levi's inning in vain
With 190 runs required for the win, the Nagpur Ninjas did not start well. They lost two wickets for 44 runs but opener Richard Levi played an innings of 94 runs off 44 balls with seven fours and eight sixes as he combined with Abhimanyu Khod, who scored of 42 runs from 31 balls with 6 fours.

Together, they took the match to the last over, with Harbhajan's team needing 10 runs in 6 balls for the win. The ball was handed to Binny, who conceded just nine runs. He started with a single off the first ball while the second ball was a dot, The third and fourth balls gave away a single each but also dismissed two batters' run-out.

Harbhajan hit a four on the last ball but his team lost the match by one run as the side from Nagpur managed only 188 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
