Yorkshire racism scandal is facing outrage from many senior cricketers worldwide. Yorkshire players Azeem Rafiq and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan have accused former England captain Michael Vaughan of racially accusing the Asian players. Now in this controversial matter, former West Indies bowler Michael Holding has slammed English Cricket Board (ECB) for the way they have handled the racism scandal. The Caribbean pacer said that he approached ECB seeking help on this matter but they declined the request. Holding said that this matter was of great importance and felt sad seeing the way ECB is taking action on it. The 67-year-old former pacer showed his anger stating ECB and Yorkshire have failed cricket.

‘I was saddened when they declined to help’

“I want to be clear that when I was made aware of Azeem Rafiq’s allegations, I immediately reached out to the ECB to ask for their help and intervention to support a robust inquiry. I was saddened when they declined to help as I felt it was a matter of great importance for the game as a whole. It is a matter of record that I have continually expressed my frustration at the ECB’s reluctance to act,” the former Caribbean pacer told the Mirror.

‘The ECB failed Yorkshire and they failed cricket’

The veteran played for West Indies from 1975-1987 and represented his team in 60 Test matches. He scalped 249 wickets in his Test career and was regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of his era. Disappointing with ECB's reaction to the scandal, Holding pointed out the problems with the the cricket board.

“The ECB failed Yorkshire and they failed cricket. They are supposed to be the organisation that runs cricket in England. If you are the supreme court, for instance, and one of the lower courts has a problem and comes to you asking for help and you’ve said that’s not your business, that doesn’t work,” he further expressed his anger.
