MI New York all-rounder Michael Bracewell was left red-faced as he tried to review a bowled dismissal in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 game against San Francisco Unicorns. Romario Shepherd dismissed Bracewell for a golden duck. The veteran New Zealand all-rounder thought he was given out lbw and tried to use the DRS but Shepherd pointed to him that he has been bowled. Bracewell smiled and started walking back to the dressing room.

Bracewell struggles against Unicorns 

Bracewell had a tough evening at the Grand Paririe Stadium, Dallas. With the ball, the off-spinner conceded 35 runs from two overs. He was hit for three sixes and a four in the 26-run over by young Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk.

In the run chase, he walked in to bat after opener Quinton de Kock was knocked over by Shepherd. Next ball, Shepherd pitched in on a length. Bracewell was cramped for room and the ball hit the top of off stump.

Big loss for MI New York

MI New York ended up posting 199/6 in the run chase of 247. They suffered their fourth defeat from five games and are placed fourth on the points table. 

Bracewell's current form

Bracewell has been in good form with the bat, scoring 147 runs from five innings at an average of 49, including a half-century. His strike rate is 159.78. In the only match MI New York won, Bracewell remained unbeaten for a 35-ball 50. MI New York chased down the target of 201 against Seattle Orcas, the second-highest successful run chase in MLC history.

With the ball, Bracewell has claimed four wickets at an average of 38.50. His economy rate is 9.62 runs per over.

Bracewell will be seen in action against Seattle Orcas at the same venue on June 27. MI New York need wins in their column to stay alive in the playoffs race.
