Australian star all-rounder Cameron Green recently opened up about his immense respect for cricket luminary and former Indian captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni, revered by fans worldwide, particularly garners unmatched adulation in India, turning stadiums into a sea of yellow, reflective of the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) jersey hue.

“MS Dhoni is like a God figure, watching him walk out to bat in Chennai is one of the most ridiculous things to witness,” Green mentioned during his conversation with the Grade Cricket on September 8. He elaborated, “He’s got a really nice demeanor about him. He seems like a lovely guy. It’s pretty cool that I was on the field with him.”

Despite contending with a knee injury in IPL 2023, Dhoni's indomitable spirit was evident. In just eight matches, he notched up an impressive 104 runs, boasting a strike rate of 182.46. Under his experienced leadership, CSK clinched their fifth IPL trophy.

On the other hand, Green made headlines with his spectacular IPL debut season with the Mumbai Indians. Garnering 452 runs in 16 matches, including a century and two half-centuries, he stood out with a commendable strike rate of 160.28. His prowess was not limited to batting; he also bagged six wickets in the prestigious T20 league.

However, the 24-year-old encountered a setback during the ongoing ODI series against South Africa, suffering a concussion from Kagiso Rabada's bouncer. Consequently sidelined for eight days, Green missed out on subsequent ODIs, with Marnus Labuschagne stepping in as a concussion substitute to deliver a memorable, match-winning performance.

With Green's anticipated return for the final ODI on September 17, Australia is grappling with injuries among key players like Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell.

The next big assignment for the Australian team is a three-ODI series in India, culminating in their inaugural match against India for the 2023 ODI World Cup at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. This face-off is eagerly awaited by cricket aficionados, especially after Green's profuse admiration for India's cricket legend, MS Dhoni.
