The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on April 5 (Wednesday) announced that 17 legendary cricketers have received the Honorary Life Membership of the club. In the list of legends, five Indian greats have also been included. Former India captain MS Dhoni, legendary batter Yuvraj Singh and all-rounder Suresh Raina, three cricketers who played a key role in making India the ODI World Champions in 2011, have received the honour.
Former India women's team captain and iconic batter, Mithali Raj and legendary bowler Jhulan Goswami have also received the honour.
"We are thrilled to be able to announce our newest cohort of Honorary Life Members of MCC, as we prepare for the new international summer. The names that have been announced today are some of the greatest international players of modern times, and we are privileged to now count them as valued Members of our Club," Chief Executive and Secretary of the MCC, Guy Lavender said.

When it comes to the achievement of the Indian cricketers receiving the prestigious honour, their resumes are impeccable. Dhoni led Team India to three ICC titles (T20 World Cup in 2007, ODI World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy in 2013) and Yuvraj was instrumental in India winning the 2007 and 2011 World Cups. Yuvraj won the Player of the Tournament award in India's victorious 2011 World Cup campaign. Raina was part of the 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy squads. His contribution to Indian cricket has been immense. Mithali and Jhulan were two trailblazers who took Indian women's cricket to unchartered territory.
