Bangladesh veteran wicketkeeper-batter, Mushfiqur Rahim is in heated battle with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as he is served with a show-cause notice for speaking against the selection panel. Rahim had a poor campaign in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Oman and United Arab Emirates (UAE). In addition, he was not selected for Bangladesh's current home T20I series against Pakistan.
The BCB isn’t happy with the statement given by Rahim and with all the likeliness, the selection panel is determined to take action on the 34-year-old.
“He will have to face a hearing as he has spoken against the selection panel," a member of Bangladesh selection panel said, as per quoted by Cricbuzz.
The selectors stated that the wicket-keeper batter was not dropped, but rather rested because of Bangladesh's tight schedule. However, the 34-year-old had retaliated at selectors for failing to communicate his removal from the national team.
”Certainly because everyone should say the truth because nothing is bigger than the team and I am just an ordinary member,” Mushfiqur said.
”The performance goes up and down and everyone should be judged by performance and fitness. They could have easily said that we are thinking something else and not considering you in this series and if you can perform then…If they had said it like this then I would have felt it much better that at least they have shown some respect,” the wicketkeeper-batter added.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play two-match Test series against Babar Azam-led Pakistan which will begin from November 26, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former Bangladesh skipper.
