Officials to meet captain Virat Kohli in Dubai to talk about next head coach: BCCI source

There have been many speculations around India's new coaching staff. However, a Board of Control for India (BCCI) top source told Sports Tak that so far nothing has been discussed and currently the focus is on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and T20 World Cup scheduled to begin next month.

"As of now, these things have not been discussed. We had planned about some former India players but they were only talks and nothing on paper. No talks about coaching for now as our focus is now IPL and T20 World Cup after that. But, we will be talking about coaching when we will meet during IPL or T20 World Cup informally. We want the best man on board but again talks will take place when we meet in Dubai.

When asked about whether the board is looking for overseas or an Indian coach, the source said, “Again, it depends on many things which impact the appointment. We will meet the officials and captain (Virat Kohli) there (Dubai) and talk about it. Nothing is clear yet so can't comment on it anymore".

Present head coach Ravi Shastri's contract will be come to an end after the completion of T20 World Cup. Shastri has revealed that he has no intention of applying for the top job again. The 59-year-old took over the post after the exit of Anil Kumble in 2017 after rift with skipper Kohli.
