Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has issued warning to selectors that he will not mince his words if they decided to drop him again without any communication. In an interview with a local Pakistan TV channel, Wasim did not hold back and expressed his disappointment for missing out on T20I action for more than a year despite an inconsistent middle order.

“They [selectors] never told the reason behind keeping me away from the national team for last one and a half year. I won’t let this happen again. My actions will be more important this time around,” Imad said.

“I am at that stage of my career that I have to take a step if they drop me without any reason again,” he added.

While Wasim missed out on T20I action, it did not have an effect on him financially. The 34-year-old even revealed that he earned a substantial amount after ouster from T20I squad by doing shows and others.

“I never suffered any financial loss while I was away from the team. In fact, I earned ten times more than what I would have earned while playing for Pakistan,” he said.

“I am confident in my abilities. If I was that bowler who is said to be dependent on the conditions then T20 leagues of Australia and South Africa would have not signed me,” he concluded.

Wasim made a comeback to the T20I squad as a second-string lineup led by Shadab Khan took on Afghanistan in the absence of several senior players after Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023.

Pakistan lost the three-T20I series to Afghanistan but Wasim proved his mettle with both bat and ball. The left-arm spinner was econonomical in all the matches. In the second clash, he rescued Pakistan from a top-order collapse and scored an unbeaten 64.

Despite the series loss, Wasim has been retained in the T20I squad for the home series T20I series against New Zealand.

Earlier, he made a comeback on the back of consistent performances in PSL 2023. He scored 404 runs from 10 innings at an average of 134.67 including three half-centuries.With the ball, he took nine wickets and conceded runs at 7.94 runs per over for Karachi Kings.
