With Pakistan's participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup shrouded in uncertainty, a report in PTI claimed that the country is preparing to send a security delegation to India. According to the report, the security delegation will inspect five venues across the country that are slated to host Pakistan matches before giving clearance to the senior men's national team to travel to India for participation in the ICC quadrennial tournament.

The decision regarding when to send the security delegation will be taken by the Pakistan government after the new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman is elected.

"The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup," PTI quoted an official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry.

"Before any tour to India it is standard practice for the cricket board to seek permission from the government which normally sends a delegation to India.

"The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans and media, who will go for the tournament.

"The PCB will share the report with the ICC and BCCI if the delegation has any concerns," he added.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup. As per the schedule, the Men in Green are slated to play their nine matches across five venues in India. Pakistan will play two matches each in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata while the marquee contest between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.
