Pakistan veteran speedster Mohammed Amir who came out of retirement in March earlier this year to represent the nation in the last edition of the T20 World Cup 2024. The pacer said goodbye to the International a day after all-rounder Imad Wasim announced that he would no longer be playing international cricket.
Amir took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to announce his retirement from international cricket.
“After careful consideration, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable. I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan Cricket to new heights!" Amir tweeted.
“Representing my country has been and always will be the greatest honour of my life. I would sincerely like to thank the PCB, my family and friends and, above all, my fans for their continuous love & support," he added.
Amir's last outing for Pakistan was in T20 World Cup 2024 clash against Ireland. He picked up seven wickets in four outings.
Amir who made his international debut in June 2009 has played 36 Test matches, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for Pakistan. He picked up 271 international wickets and scored 1,179 runs across the three formats. The left-arm pacer was Pakistan's hero in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against India, where he returned with figures of 3-16.
