Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ODI and T20I teams for Pakistan's forthcoming tour of New Zealand have been officially announced. Salman Ali Agha was named Pakistan's captain in the game's shortest format following the Champions Trophy fiasco, but Mohammad Rizwan continues to be the captain in the 50-over format. Salman has also been appointed the ODI team's vice-captain. Since Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, and Muhammad Ali are the only three uncapped players in the T20I team, the selectors have rewarded the top performers on the domestic circuit. Ali and Akif Javed, meanwhile, are members of the ODI team.

Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf dropped from ODIs

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Usman Khan, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain were five players who were part of the Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 squad but did not make the team for the ODIs against New Zealand.

However, unlike these five stars, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam received lifelines from the board despite their massive criticism during the mega tournament. Although they will not play T20Is, they will continue to be part of the 50-over team. PCB also noted that a wicketkeeper/batter will be added to the ODI squad following the T20Is.
