Team India veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin dropped a major hint on Ravindra Jadeja's potential return to international cricket. Jadeja has been out of action for four months after he suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury during the 2022 Asia Cup. The all-rounder underwent successful surgery to recuperate from his injury but it forced him to miss the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia along with the two home T20I series - first against Australia and then against South Africa. He also missed the New Zealand and Bangladesh tours while he is not part of the ongoing white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home.

Indian cricket fans have been speculating about Jadeja's potential return date to the national side. Jadeja spin bowling partner Ashwin seems to have dropped a big hint pertaining to the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder's return. Ashwin reckons that Jadeja might fully recover before the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia at home.

"I put in a lot of work whenever a home series happens. I'm expecting (Ravindra) Jadeja to come through (be fit in time) but I like expanding more angles. I got some things in my head. I've been watching Australia play in Australia. I'd like to be working on some different angles, something new," Ashwin told The New Indian Express.

India will lock horns against the Baggy Greens in a four-match Test series, which by the way, is significantly important as Rohit Sharma's men would look to solidify their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Having Jadeja for the home Test series would bolster India's chances of registering a win against in-form Australia. After undergoing surgery, Jadeja started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
