Rinku Singh became a household name in the cricket fraternity after displaying his imperious ball-striking ability in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Ever since the left-handed batter smoked five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal's over in a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans, Rinku grew in stature. The southpaw was not just a one-match wonder. He replicated his explosive batting in multiple matches and especially in run chases,  Rinku carved his own niche.

For his breathtaking performances with the bat, Rinku was awarded his maiden national call-up when the BCCI announced India's 15-member squad for the 2022 Asian Games.

The southpaw is now eagerly waiting to don the India jersey and fulfill his age-old dream. While Rinku looks forward to the day he gets his maiden India cap, he is also aware of the overwhelming emotion that is bound to grip him and his family.

"I am a strong guy but a bit emotional as well. I am pretty sure there will be some tears when I wear the India jersey for the first time. It has been a long and a tough journey," Rinku told RevSportz.

"Everyone dreams to play for India, wear that jersey. I don't think a lot about the future because the more you think, the more burden you put yourself under. I take life as one day at a time. But yes, whoever takes up professional sports wants to represent their country one day or the other.

"I know for the fact that my family, my parents will be happier than me to see me wear the Indian jersey. They have been waiting for this for years now. They have seen my struggle, they have helped me, been with me through all my ups and downs. The day I don the jersey will be a day dedicated to them," he added.

In IPL 2023, Rinku scored 474 runs in 14 matches at an outstanding strike rate of 149.53 and a commendable average of 59.25. He smashed 29 sixes and 31 fours during the campaign.
