India's renowned wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant took to Instagram to extend warm birthday wishes to NCA batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. In his heartfelt post, Pant thanked the former Saurashtra skipper for his unwavering support over the recent challenging months. Joining Pant in the celebrations was NCA chief VVS Laxman.
"Thoda sa blurr hai but Happy birthday machaa. Special Thanku for looking after me in last few months. Have a great day," Pant said in an Instagram post. Along with Pant, NCA chief VVS Laxman was also present on Kotak's special day.
Pant has been undergoing intense physical rehabilitation since a devastating car accident in December 2022. The tragic event resulted in multiple injuries for the cricketer. As per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant endured a ligament tear in his right knee, severe cuts on his forehead, back abrasions, and traumatic impacts to his wrist, ankle, and toe.
Despite Pant's renowned resilience on the cricket field, his road to recovery post-accident has been marred with challenges due to the extensive nature of his injuries. Particularly, the knee ligament injury cast a shadow over his prospects in the forthcoming cricket tournaments. However, showing indomitable spirit, Pant has showcased positive strides by resuming indoor batting sessions.
However, questions regarding Pant's readiness for high-stake matches loom large. Indian bowling legend Ishant Sharma recently conveyed reservations about Pant's participation in both the 2023 ODI World Cup and the upcoming Indian Premier League. In an interview with JioCinema, Sharma highlighted, “I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL as well because it is not a small injury. It was a very serious accident. He has just started batting and wicketkeeping and to run and turn after that, there are a lot of things, which is not easy for a wicketkeeper and a batter.”
