Legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri died at the age of 69 in Mumbai on Wednesday (Friday 16), at a Mumbai hospital, due to multiple health issues. The veteran singer was being treated for various illnesses and he was tested positive for the Covid-19 virus in April last year.
Indian cricket fraternity also expressed their grief on social media.
Cricketers pay tribute
From former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammed Azharuddin to current players like Virat Kohli, the cricket fraternity expressed its sadness on social media.
“I really enjoyed Bappi Da's music, especially “yaad aa raha hai” - heard it several times in the dressing room. The range of his talent was truly amazing,” tweeted Sachin Tendulkar.
On the other hand former India skipper Virat Kohli also tweeted on this matter. "An icon of the Indian music industry," tweeted Virat Kohli.
Harbhajan Singh's tweet
Harbhajan Singh on the other hand, recalled the memories from the past when Bappi Lahiri’s songs were played in the dressing room.
“Very sad to hear about Bappi da.. your songs were always played in our dressing rooms.. #RIPbhappida Condolences to family and friends .. Om Shanti,” tweeted Harbhajan Singh.
Yuvraj Singh also expressed his grief as he said that Bappi Lahiri “will be fondly remembered for his mesmerising musical compositions.”

Former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin also expressed his grief on Twitter.
"Deeply saddened to hear about the death of #BappiLahiri Great musicians leaving for their heavenly abode one after another,” tweeted Mohammed Azharuddin.

Bappi Lahiri popular for his hit songs was also famous for his love for gold jewelerry. His last Bollywood song was 'Bhankas' for the 2020 Bollywood film 'Baaghi 3', featuring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor.
The legendary musician and singer made his debut in the industry by providing the music score for the movie, 'Nanha Shikari'. The movie 'Nanha Shikari' was released in the year 1973.
