Surrey Jaguars bowlers had a field day against Mississauga Panthers at CAA Centre, Brampton, Ontario in the Global T20 Canada 2023 clash on August 3. Panthers led by Shoaib Malik suffered a massive batting collapse on a pitch that did not favour the batters and assisted spinners. Panthers got all out for a paltry 56 and suffered their sixth loss of the tournament.

Early wickets

The first wicket fell in the second over with Ammar Khalid taking a catch of Mihir Patel off his own bowling. Cameron Delport and Shreyas Movva were dismissed by Matthew Forde in the powerplay overs. Malik struggled against Oman left-arm spinner Ayaan Khan in the seventh over.

Batting collapse

In the next over, Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane struck twice to dismiss wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan and Tom Cooper off consecutive deliveries. In the ninth over, Usman Qadir got run out as Panthers lost seven wickets for 34 runs.

James Neesham and Nikhil Dutta tried to get a partnership going. Then skipper Iftikhar introduced himself and broke the partnership with Dutta's wicket. Lamichhane then trapped Zahoor Khan in front of the wickets. Iftikhar wrapped up the innings with Cecil Pervez. Neesham remained not out for nine runs off 20 balls as Panthers got bowled out for 56 in 14.3 overs.

Nervy start

In the run chase, Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir dismissed Jatinder Singh for a single-digit score in his first over. Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter was the second wicket to fall in the fifth over. Pervez got the wicket in the fifth over.

Haris finishes it off

Mohammad Haris took the attacking route and scored 37 runs from just 23 balls including six fours and a six. On the other end, Iftikhar remained unbeaten for eight runs from nine balls. Jaguars got over the line with eight wickets in hand and 66 balls to spare.

Jaguars are on the top of the points table with four wins from seven games. They will face Vancouver Knights in the first qualifier on August 4. On the other hand, the Panthers have been eliminated from the qualifiers race and finished at the bottom of the table.
