The national selection committee, led by Chetan Sharma, is expected to meet in the upcoming days to pick up the squad for the India-New Zealand home series and to pick up the team's new Twenty20 skipper.

The current T20 skipper Virat Kohli will relinquish from the post after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which is currently underway in Dubai.

The India-New Zealand series will get underway with the opening T20I in Jaipur on November 17, followed by games on November 19 and November 21 in Ranchi and Kolkata respectively.

Then there are two Test matches, which will be played in Kanpur (November 25 to 29) and Mumbai (December 3 to 7).

The Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma is the top contender for the top post. However, as per a recent report, there are possibilities of seniors being rested for the three T20 International matches.

If the reports are to be believed, a couple of selectors including the chairman Chetan Sharma and member Abey Kuruvilla are already in Dubai and rest of the panel are in India.

Post the selection for the home series against the Black Caps, the players are likely to be asked to report by November 10 and undergo a five-day quarantine. Former India captain Rahul Dravid, who has applied to be India’s next head coach is also likely to join the team.
