Shardul Thakur will start his new innings next year as the Mumbai-based player got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Mithali Parulkar. The engagement ceremony took place at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai on Sunday (November 28). The ceremony was attended by only close friends and relatives as photos.
A close friend of Shardul confirmed the news to Times of India. The Mumbai all-rounder and Mithali have got engaged and will look forward to tying the knot after next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
The 30-year-old has been a part of the Indian team for a while but he is yet to cement his place in the side. The versatile all-rounder has been a good utility player for the team and has represented the nation in all three formats. So far he has played 24 T20Is, 15 ODIs, and four Tests for the Men in Blue.
Shardul was most recently the part of the T20 World Cup 2021 and played a couple of matches as well. However, the pacer didn't make any significant impact as he remained wicketless in two matches he played. He was drafted into the main team after the left-arm spinner Axar Patel was demoted to reserves for the mega event in United Arab Emirates.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Shardul has been rested for the New Zealand series. However, the prolific all-rounder will look forward to cementing his spot in the Indian team under newly-appointed head coach Rahul Dravid. Moreover, he will be hoping to be retained by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming mega auction for the 10-team tournament next year.
