Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina's father Trilokchand Raina passed away on Sunday (February 6). He breathed his last at his residence. However, he was undergoing a cancer treatment. His death has caused a wave of mourning in the entire family.

Meanwhile Suresh Raina's former teammate Harbhajan Singh offered his condolences on social media.

"Very sad to hear Suresh Raina’s father @ImRaina RIP uncle ji," wrote Harbhajan.

Trilokchand Raina was a military officer, who had mastery in making bombs in ordinance factory. Raina's ancestral village is 'Rainawari' in Jammu and Kashmir union territory of India. His father left the village after killings of Kashmir pandits in 1990s.

Right after that, he came to Muradnagar, Ghaziabad with his two sons Dinesh Raina and Suresh Raina and two daughters. Trilokchand worked hard to raise his children. His salary was mere INR 10,000 rupees thus he couldn't afford the high cricket coaching fees for Suresh.

When Suresh Raina was admitted to the Guru Gobind Singh sports college, he started his journey as a cricketer and achieved great heights in the world cricket. Suresh Raina is careful of not mentioning something that reminded him of Trilokchand's struggle in Kashmir. Raina's strength and ability to take on any challenge mostly came from his father.

Trilokchand was a massive influencer of Suresh Raina, and the two stayed together wherever he was in India. Also, when he was not with the Indian camp, he used to train Ghaziabad, as he wanted to stay close to his parents. Trilokchand's demise comes on a day when the entire nation is also mourning the death of legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar.

However, it will surely be a tough time for Suresh Raina who will be taking part in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction slated for next weekend. He last played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before deciding against being retained. He may be roped in by his new home franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which would also possibly be his final IPL season.
