Trent Boult makes ODI comeback as New Zealand gear up for England series

In a significant development, New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult is all set to make a comeback to ODIs after nearly a year's hiatus as the ODI World Cup comes to a close. The New Zealand Cricket Board has unveiled a robust lineup for the upcoming four-match ODI series against cricketing giants England, which will take place from September 8 to 15.

Boult, a notable absence from the international 50-over format, had opted out of the Black Caps' central contract in 2022. This decision was taken to allow him the flexibility to participate in various T20 leagues globally, further highlighting his prowess in the shorter format of the game.

Simultaneously, the board also revealed the roster for the T20I series, where seasoned cricketer Tim Southee will be at the helm. However, post the T20I showdown, Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, and James Neesham are slated to depart early owing to personal reasons.

As per the official NZC communication, "Both Chapman and Neesham are on the cusp of welcoming their first children, making their presence crucial at home. In addition, Sodhi will be rejoining his family post the T20I face-off with England, anticipating a jam-packed cricket calendar ahead."

The Kiwis will miss the services of dynamic all-rounder Michael Bracewell. He remains on the sidelines, recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in June. "Bracewell's post-surgical recovery from a ruptured Achilles continues to be monitored, and he won't be donning the Black Caps jersey for this series," the board further elaborated.

In another announcement, New Zealand's cricket administrators have disclosed the team that will face the United Arab Emirates in a three-match T20I series later in the month, indicating a busy schedule for the Kiwis on the cricketing front.
