More than two weeks after announcing his retirement from Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has joined a new Super Kings franchise. In the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), Rayudu will don the yellow jersey for Texas Super Kings.
On June 15, TSK franchise announced the long list of overseas players which includes three CSK players from IPL 2023 and former CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as well. The first match of MLC 2023 will be played on July 14. The other two CSK players in the side are New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner.
After IPL 2022, Rayudu had announced his return from the cash-rich league. But, he rolled back his retirement to play one more season for the franchise. In IPL 2023, Rayudu announced his retirement from IPL before the final against Gujarat Titans (GT). In IPL 2023 final, Rayudu played a cameo in CSK’s rain-curtailed successful run chase. He became the second player alongside Rohit Sharma to win most IPLs in the tournament’s history.

Rayudu recalls ODI WC 2019 snub
Recently, Rayudu also opened up on his snub from ODI World Cup 2019 squad where India were knocked out at semi-final stage by New Zealand. He took on former selector MSK Prasad for dropping him from the side.
"I had some issues with the member of the selection committee when I was playing with them in the early stages of my career, which might be one of the reasons why I was out of the team in World Cup 2019," Rayudu told TV9 Telugu.
Rayudu also clarified that he did not have anything against Vijay Shankar who was preferred over him and his tweet was out of frustration.
"MSK Prasad's comments about being a 3D player made me more impatient. In that anger, I tweeted that I would watch the game in 3D glasses. Everyone trolled Vijay Shankar. But I didn't tweet against him or MSK. I blasted satires on the manner of Team India's selection. People could not understand this and cursed Vijay Shankar. Of course, there is nothing wrong with him. Just a player waiting for an opportunity like everyone else," he clarified.
