Renowned Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has fervently countered news reports suggesting that he intends to set up a cricket pitch within his under-construction Alibaug farmhouse.
Kohli and his spouse Anushka Sharma have invested in a sprawling eight-acre property in the upscale Alibaug region, close to Mumbai. Situated near Zirad village, the acquisition was made in two distinct transactions, costing around Rs 19.24 crore. The two plots span approximately 2.54 acres and 4.91 acres, respectively.
Recently, the duo made a visit to their Alibaug estate, keeping tabs on the ongoing farmhouse development. This visit triggered speculative reports hinting at Kohli's intent to incorporate a cricket pitch within the premises.
Dispelling these speculations, the esteemed batter voiced his disappointment via an Instagram story. Kohli's retort was clear: "Bachpan se jo akhbaar Padha hai, wo bhi fake news chaapne lage ab (The newspapers which I have read since childhood, have also started publishing fake news)," he shared on his Instagram.
This isn't Kohli's maiden confrontation with misleading news. Earlier, stories around his substantial earnings from social media, particularly a whopping Rs 11.4 crore from a singular sponsored Instagram post surfaced. Kohli promptly addressed the matter on Twitter, acknowledging his blessings but unequivocally refuting the purported figures.
On the cricket front, fans last witnessed Kohli in action during the West Indies tour, where he participated in both Test matches and a solitary ODI. He marked the end of his foreign century hiatus in the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad. Additionally, while he did play the initial ODI in the Caribbean, Kohli didn't have an innings in the match.
With the ongoing rumours about the Kohli Alibaug farmhouse and his active presence on the cricket pitch, it's evident that both the cricketing world and news about his personal endeavours continue to capture English-speaking audiences' attention.
