'We don't go to poor countries for other leagues': Virender Sehwag recalls making fun of BBL franchise for offering him $100,000 contract

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recalled trolling the Big Bash League franchise for offering him a $100,000 contract back when he used to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sehwag also made a witty remark saying that Indian players are rich and don't have the need to go to other countries' leagues.

 

Sehwag recalls turning down the BBL contract

 

Virender Sehwag was part of the Club Prairie fire YT with Australian legend Adam Gilchrist and revealed getting a $100,000 contract from BBL. The star batter also trolled the offer he received and said he spend that much money on his holidays and even his last night's bill was the same.

"Do you see a time where Indian players will ever be able to go & play other T20 leagues?" Adam Gilchrist asked Sehwag on Club Prairie fire YT.

 

"No, Don't need, we are rich people, we don't go to poor countries for other leagues. I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team, I was playing IPL, then I got offer from BBL that I should participate in Big Bash, I said okay how much money, they said $100,000. I said I can spend that money in my holidays, even last night's bill was more than $100,000," said Sehwag replying to Gilchrist.

Sehwag drops Hardik Pandya from Indian playing XI for T20 World Cup

 

Sehwag also revealed his picks for the Indian playing XI for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the conversation with Gilchrist but did not name Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. He picked Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh for the lower middle order over the MI captain. The former player also picked Sandeep Sharma as the team's third pacer with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

 

Even KL Rahul could not find a place for himself in the legendary cricketer's playing XI. He also provided Rishabh Pant the spot for wicket-keeper over Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Jitesh Sharma.
