Watch: With match heading to a draw, part-time spinner's hilarious delivery makes slip fielder bury his head in the field

There is not much excitement when a match is heading to a draw, especially when the last ball is being bowled. The players are ready to shake each other’s hands and head back to the shed. Sometimes when part-time bowlers take over, there are a few laughs shared on the field but what happened during Leicestershire and Glamorgan’s clash is something which is rarely seen in red-ball cricket.

Glamorgan opener Eddie Byrom rolled his arm and was hit for nine runs in his first over. In the next, Rishi Patel was just looking to block the ball. Byrom had a first slip and a leg slip in place for Patel who had already scored a century. For the last ball, Byrom bowled a half tracker that bounced a few times before reaching Patel who defended it on the front foot.

While Patel was just happy that the day’s play has ended, the ball amused leg slip fielder who buried his head in the field laughing. The wicketkeeper tried to control his laughter as well. Also, the umpire almost looked clueless to what had happened.

The video of the County Championship Divison Two was posted by the official Twitter handle and has been making rounds on social media.

Leicestershire opener Clarke remained unbeaten for 134 runs from 213 deliveries including 18 fours and three sixes. He had support from skipper Lewis Hill who scored 82 runs after opener Sol Budinger became victim to Australian pacer Michael Neser. After Colin Ackerman's (12) dismissal, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Peter Handscomb remained unbeaten for 12 as the game ended in a draw.

Earlier on Day 1, Galmorgan skipper David Lloyd won the toss and opted to field first. Hill scored a half-century whereas Handscomb and Rehan Ahmed's 90s helped Leicestershire post 407. Timm van der Gugten was the pick of the bowlers with a six-fer in the first innings.

In reply, Byron and Marnus Labuschagne scored half-centuries but it was Chris Cooke and Neser's 211-run partnership for the eighth wicket that helped Glamorgan post 465. Cooke scored 132 whereas Neser scored 90. For Leicestershire, Chris Wright took a fifer.

After a draw Leicestershire are second on the points table and will face Derbyshire in their next clash. On the other hand, Glamorgan are yet to open their win account and are placed fifth on the points table. They will face Yorkshire in their next match.
