Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has kept superstar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's four months salary on hold despite being a centrally contracted player. BCB announced a salary hike for Bangladesh players on Monday, March 3, however, Shakib Al Hasan's but Shakib’s salary was still due.

Meanwhile, BCI officials have come out with an explanation as they revealed the reason behind non-clearance of Shakib's salary for final four months. The cricket board admitted that Shakib's accounts were frozen which stopped them from clearing the dues.

Alongside Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Shoriful Islam, Shakib was also granted central contract by BCB across formats.

The ace all-rounder's salary is due for the months of September, October, November and December. 

“It's true that he (Shakib) is yet to receive salary for September, October, November, and December, and that is largely due to the fact his bank account got frozen,” an official said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Shakib Al Hasan is set to receive a payment of BDT 48 Lakhs, equivalent to approximately USD 38,400 or Rs 33 lakh before taxes. This financial transaction comes amidst a period of significant change in Shakib's career and public life.

Recently, Shakib Al Hasan declared his retirement from international cricket. This decision coincides with his role as a member of parliament representing Magura, his hometown, in the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government. The 37-year-old all-rounder has faced considerable public scrutiny, particularly in the wake of political unrest following the government's resignation from power after 15 years. Shakib was among 147 individuals named in a First Information Report (FIR) related to an alleged murder during this period of turmoil.

Meanwhile, BCB cricket operation chairman Nazmul stated that the superstar all-rounder will get his dues as per the agreement:

“He (Shakib) will get his salary as per the agreement because whether you play or not there is an agreement in place and certainly we will try to fulfil our commitment as per the agreement,” he said.

After announcing his retirement from T20Is and Tests, Shakib was in a bid to play his last match at home against South Africa but due to security reasons it didn't happen.

Shakib then landed in a deep legal trouble when he his name was involved in a murder case during the political turmoil in Bangladesh. Despite the accusations, BCB let Shakib play by saying he can do so unless proven guilty.
