Wriddhiman Saha decides against revealing name of journalist who threatened him; vows not to hold back if it happens again

Wriddhiman Saha has decided not to reveal the name of “so-called journalist” who threatened him in text messages over WhatsApp for not giving an interview. While few former players backed Saha and wanted him reveal the journalist’s name, Saha has decided against it on the condition that an incident like this never happens again.

Saha’s statement on Twitter -

I was hurt and offended. I thought not to tolerate such kind of behaviour and didn’t want anyone to go through these kind of bullying. I decided I will go out and expose the chat in public eye, but not his/her name.

My nature isn't such that I will harm anyone to the extent of ending someone’s career. So on grounds of humanity looking at his/her family, I am not exposing the name for the time being. But if any such repetition happens, I will not hold back.

I thank each and everyone who has shown support and extended their willingness to help. My gratitude.

Saha’s tweet that exposed the journalist

Earlier on February 19, Saha posted a screenshot of chat with the journalist and wrote, “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

End of road for Saha

The Bengal wicketkeeper-batter was recently not picked in Sri Lanka’s Test squad for two-Test series against Rohit Sharma-led India. The 37-year-old had recently shared that he was given clarity by head coach Rahul Dravid about his future in the international team.

On the other hand, Saha revealed that he was given assurance by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly of his place after a half-century against New Zealand in home Test series last year.
