Virat Kohli had indirectly criticised BCCI's new diktat.

Yuvraj Singh's Hazel Keech has backed BCCI's move.

India's ODI and T20 World Cup-winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh's wife Hazel Keech has backed the Board of Control for Cricket in India's move (BCCI) to limit families' time on tours. BCCI took the decision after India's Test series defeat in Australia. However, Virat Kohli stressed on importance of having family as he does want to sit alone in the room and sulk. While there have been reports that BCCI is mulling over idea to allow families for longer periods if a prior approval is sought, Yuvraj's wife Hazel has said that the board took the right decision.

“I can understand when Yuvi was playing international cricket, moving from one tournament to another, and he would be away for a long time," Keech said to ANI.

“For families with small children, it was difficult to be apart for so long.

“But when I used to watch his matches, Yuvi would always be concerned about me, which affected his focus on the game.

"So, allowing families to join for a limited time is beneficial in both ways."

What Kohli said ahead of IPL 2025?

Earlier this month, Kohli was asked at an Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) event about importance of having family by his side on tours.

“If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? You’ll be like, yes. I don’t want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk,” Kohli had said.

“I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life,” the 36-year-old added.

Kohli will be in action as RCB take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opening clash at Eden Gardens on March 22.
