Delhi cricketer has become victim of honeytrap in Kolkata. Cops at Baguiati police station arrested three people on the charge of extorting lakhs of rupees by making offensive video of cricketer's intimate moments and threatening to upload them on social media.
The three arrested -- Subhankar Biswas, Rishabh Chandra and Shiva Singh -- will be produced in Barasat court. The Baguiati police and senior officials of Bidhannagar Commissionerate will try to find if there is anyone else involved with gang.
According to police sources, On November 2 late night, the cricketer lodged a complaint at the Baguiati police station. He arrived in Kolkata on October 29 for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixtures and stayed at an elite hotel in Salt Late.
On November 1, when he arrived at Bus Stand No. 44 in Baguiati, four youths took him to a place and threatened to make a video of him and spread it on social media. They ran away after robbing him of Rs 60,000 via online transfer along with his smartphone and chain.
The Delhi player had gone to the Baguiati Bus Stand No. 44 after he was shown pictures of several young women via a dating site. He wanted to spend time with one of them. The accused gang of three people took him to different places and then to Baguiati Jagatpur. After that, the accused extorted lakhs of rupees from him in the name of making an offensive video of his intimate moments viral.
On November 5, the three accused men were arrested by the police from Baguiati and its adjacent areas. The police source also said that this is not the first time the accused have embezzled lakhs of rupees from someone indicating that they have been running the racket for a long time.
