David Warner vs Stuart Broad: Australia captain Pat Cummins exudes confidence in star batter's ability to combat English pacer in Ashes 2023

Australian opener David Warner hasn't been in the greatest of form with the bat in Test cricket of late. The left-handed batter will face his biggest nemesis when Australia begin their defence of the Urn. The southpaw will be up against England pacer Stuart Broad, who has enjoyed immense success when it comes to the individual battles between him and the Aussie opener. The last time when Australia were in England for the Ashes in 2019, Warner became Broad's bunny as he was dismissed by the English pacer on seven occasions in that series. Warner and Australian supporters would hope that this time, the tide shifts in their corner.

The Baggy Greens' skipper Pat Cummins is confident of Warner's ability to tackle Broad even though he failed to do so four years ago. Cummins asserted that this time Warner is ready to win the battle against Broad.

"I don't think there'll be any surprises," Cummins said while speaking to WA Today.

"They're guys we've played a lot and Davey's I'm sure been thinking about Broad a lot over the last four years and if he got another chance, how he is going to play against him.

"It didn't go Davey's way last time, but I think we'll see a different Davey this time," he added.

The much-awaited 2023 Ashes series between England and Australia will kick off on June 16. Two of the best teams in the world will re-ignite their century-old rivalry in what has been billed as one of the best Test series in recent times. The Baggy Greens come into the Ashes on the back of a commanding World Test Championship (WTC) final win over India at The Oval, London. The Three Lions, on the flip side, have played fearless cricket in the last couple of years and have redefined the way red-ball cricket is played. The two teams will cross swords in a five-match series, the first of which will be played at Edgbaston.
