WPL Auction 2023, UP Warriorz full squad: After splurging big on Deepti and Ecclestone, UP rope in local talents

UP Warriorz splurged their bucks sensibly in the glitzy Women's Premier League (WPL) auction on Monday (February 13). India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma remained the top signings of Warriorz as she was sold for a whopping sum of Rs 2.6 crore. Further she was accompanied by her teammates  Devika Vaidya and Rajeshwari Gayakwad who were roped in for Rs 1.4 crore and Rs 40 lakh respectively. Warriors also broke bank on star overseas players in Australia's Alyssa Healy and England's Sophie Ecclestone who were bought for Rs 70 lakh and Rs 1.8 crore respectively. Another star Australian player Tahlia McGrath ended up being one of the most attractive buys in the entire auction as she was roped in for Rs 1.4 crore.
 

Deepti Sharma might be seen captaining the UP Warriorz side in the inaugural season of the WPL which is scheduled to start from March 4.

Women's Premier League Format
1. Each team will play two matches against the other four teams. This means that the five teams will play 20 league games.
2. After the league matches, the 4th and 5th-placed sides will be eliminated. The top three teams will continue to fight for the title.
3. The team that tops the points table will directly qualify for the final.
4. Eliminator: There will be an eliminator match between the second and third-placed sides in the points table. The winning team will reach the final and clash with the table topper for the title.
