Vrinda Dinesh was bought by UP Warriorz for INR 1.30 crore in the WPL auction.

Karnataka batter Vrinda said that she draws inspiration from Virat Kohli and Meg Lanning.

For Vrinda Dinesh, December 9 was special. The 22-year-old was a relatively unknown figure before the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction. However, following the auction, she garnered considerable attention by becoming the third-most expensive player, with UP Warriorz acquiring her for INR 1.30 crore.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Virat Kohli and former Australian captain Meg Lanning. However, Vrinda named Alyssa Healy as her favourite. Interestingly, in the upcoming second edition of the WPL, she will have the opportunity to play under Healy.

Vrinda commended Healy, the newly-appointed captain of the Australia Women's team across formats, for her impressive stroke-making and destructive batting.

"I have looked up to Virat Kohli and Meg Lanning, but Alyssa Healy is my new favourite. I just love the way she bats and how destructive she is," Dinesh was quoted as saying to India Today on December 10.

Vrinda rewarded after hard work

Vrinda played in the Emerging Asia Cup, stepping in as a replacement for fast bowler S Yashasri. However, it was in the Women's Senior T20 Trophy that she gained attention for her proficiency in hitting substantial shots.

In the tournament, Vrinda featured in eight matches for Karnataka, scoring 211 runs at an average of 35.17 and an impressive strike rate of 154.01. The right-handed batter attributed her success to the hard work she put in over the past two years.

"To get to the stage where I have been hitting now, it took me two years when day in and day out, I tried to work on my strokes and develop a lot more shots. I feel that's what has got me here today," she added.

Following the T20 trophy, Vrinda continued her impressive performance by amassing 348 runs in six matches during the Women's Senior One Day Trophy, achieving two centuries and two fifties.

Participating in the WPL and sharing the field with players like Healy, Grace Harris, Danni Wyatt, and Sophie Ecclestone is anticipated to contribute to her further growth as a cricketer.
