Delhi Capitals Women have finalized their 18-member squad for the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL). In a competitive bidding process, the DC franchise secured Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland for a substantial INR 2 crore, prevailing over Mumbai Indians (MI) after MI withdrew from the intense contest.
With only 25 lakhs remaining in their budget, Delhi Capitals then acquired two uncapped players – Aparna Mondal (10 Lakh) and Ashwani Kumari (10 Lakh) – to complete their squad.
It's noteworthy that Aparna Mondal, who was part of Delhi Capitals in WPL 2023, had been released prior to the auction.
Leading up to the WPL auction 2024, Delhi Capitals had retained 15 players, prioritizing the continuity of their core team. Key retained players included stars like Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp, and the team captain, Meg Lanning.
