The Ballon d'Or 2023 will be awarded on Monday, October 30 in Paris, France. The award will be based on player performance in the season rather than the calendar year and will be hosted by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

In addition to the Ballon d'Or Feminin and Men's Ballon d'Or, France Football will also announce the winners of the Kopa Trophy, the Yashin Trophy, the Socrates Award, the Gerd Müller Trophy, and a Club of the Year award.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland are the leading candidates for the Men's Ballon d'Or award. Messi is hoping to secure a record-extending eighth trophy.

While Lionel Messi won the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar with Argentina, he also won the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain. Haaland, meanwhile, won the European treble of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
