Newcastle's Alexander Isak has informed the club about his aspirations to move out of the club, according to Mail Sport. The report comes after Isak pulled out of the club's pre-season tour, citing a thigh injury. Isak has been linked with Liverpool for the last few weeks.
Liverpool's strong desire to get Alexander Isak
Since joining Newcastle in the summer of 2022, Isak has scored 62 goals from 109 matches. Currently he is one of the most desirable strikers in the world. He had an incredible 2024-25 season, as he scored 27 goals in 42 games across all competitions and helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League.
Premier League champions Liverpool are keen to add Isak in their roster this summer, but the striker has three years left on his contract with Newcastle. Earlier this year, Newcastle chief executive had made it clear that the club has no intention of selling Isak.
As per several reports, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is not in favour of selling Isak this summer, but the strikers want to leave. Things may change with Liverpool's rumoured offer of £150 million. Last week, Newcastle faced a crushing 0-4 defeat to Celtic in a friendly game.
With Isak's unavailability for pre-season tour of Singapore and South Korea, Newcastle may explore the offers they are getting for the striker. Only way for Liverpool to get Isak is to break the British transfer record for the second time, after having spent £116 million on Florian Wirtz.
Under Arne Slot, Liverpool have become one of the most strongest sides in Europe, but failed to clinch Champions League last season due to lack of depth in the squad, this made them sign Writz, who is a proven match winner.
Similarly, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt. The Frenchman is very versatile, as he can play across the front-three. With Isak making up mind to explore a new move, Liverpool finally can grab this signing.
