Carlo Ancelotti's Second Stint with Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti took over the job from Zinedine Zidane at the start of the 2021/22 season and turned the team into a goalscoring machine. Besides Karim Benzema, who acted as the bona fide goal scorer that season, he brought the best out of Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo Goes also excelled in his role. Moreover, he extracted goals from the entire squad, and as a result, Real Madrid won both La Liga and the Champions League. The following season, the Los Blancos suffered a dip in form and were severely hit by injuries. Not to forget it was the World Cup year and the regular season was paused due to the globally celebrated tournament. Yet, Ancelotti did not go trophyless that season. They ended the long wait to lift the Copa del Rey trophy.
Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti returned to its best next season. This time the challenge was even harder as Karim Benzema had left the club and moreover the pursuit to sign Kylian Mbappe had also failed. But that was not a problem for Carlo Ancelotti. For the record, Real Madrid lost only twice in the entirety of the season, and once again this time with sheer dominance, captured the La Liga title and Champions League trophy.
Ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season, Real Madrid finally secured the deal with Kylian Mbappe and the long yearning of the Madridistas to watch the Frenchman in the White jersey culminated. Madrid was bound to dominate, claimed most of the pundits. But the injuries and the departure of players like Toni Kroos, Nacho, and Joselu created an imbalance in the squad, and Ancelotti had to bear the brunt of it.
He will be showered with the respect he deserves, and while his last season with the club was a disastrous one, Carlo Ancelotti's name will be celebrated with utmost reverence.
